An hourly rate on its own ends up producing absurd amounts over long loans: four days at 1 €/h comes to 96 €, and nobody rents a car that way. Duration packages solve it the way the whole market does — you set flat rates, the app works out both the hourly total and the package, then bills whichever is cheaper. The driver never has to choose.
Duration packages
Flat rates that cap what time costs, and the two settings that decide how days are counted.
Setting your two packages
- Open the vehicle, then Costs and Hourly rate.
- Switch on Duration rates.
- Set a duration and a price for each of the two packages.
The two packages are entirely yours: 2 hours at 12 €, 5 hours at 25 €, a full day at 40 €. No order is imposed, and you can fill in only one of them. Beyond the longest package, the calculation carries on in further slices.
Packages work alongside the daily cap on billed hours, which stays available and applies to the same time pillar.
24-hour days from pickup
Packages and the daily cap both reason in days, and a day is by default the calendar day, midnight to midnight. A car picked up in the evening and returned the next morning therefore counts as two days: two caps, two packages.
The 24-hour days from pickup setting (Circle settings → Costs → Advanced options) counts 24-hour slices starting at the departure time instead. A loan from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. becomes a single day again.
The setting only appears when at least one vehicle bills by the day — a daily cap or a package grid. Without either, it has nothing to slice. No existing circle changes amounts unless you switch it on yourself.
Billing on the booked slot
By default, time is billed from the start of the booking until the vehicle is handed back. Someone who books the whole day, drives for an hour and brings the car back therefore pays for one hour — even though the slot tied the vehicle up for everybody else.
Switching the time basis to the booked slot bills up to the end of the slot that was held when the car comes back early. A tolerance, which you set and which starts at 30 minutes, lets small early returns through untouched.
A late return is still billed on real time: this setting can never reduce a bill, only prevent one from shrinking below what was promised.
Which plans include them
Duration packages and billing on the booked slot are reserved for Co-oto Teams. A free circle can try both during its 21-day discovery period. The 24-hour day setting is open to every plan.
A circle that leaves Teams keeps its settings untouched: the app simply stops applying them, and picks them up again if you come back. See the plans and what each one includes.
