Trip calculator

Estimate a trip by entering a departure and an arrival address.

What it does

The trip calculator estimates the cost of a real journey. You enter where you leave from and where you go, and Co-oto works out the driving distance, the duration and the price for that vehicle.

When to use it: Before a trip, to know roughly what it will cost you as a driver. Before sharing a vehicle, to picture what a typical journey costs.

How to use it

  1. Open the cost calculator from the menu, or from the costs page of a vehicle
  2. If you share several vehicles, pick the one to estimate
  3. Type the departure address and choose it from the suggestions
  4. Type the arrival address and choose it the same way
  5. The route is worked out automatically, or tap Calculate trip cost

A swap button lets you flip the departure and the arrival to estimate the return journey in one tap.

What you get

Distance

The driving distance in kilometres.

Duration

The estimated driving time.

Route

The journey drawn on a map.

The distance and duration are sent straight into the cost simulator below. It then shows the full breakdown: the energy cost over the distance, the hourly cost if the vehicle has one, and the share of the fixed costs.

Calculator and cost simulator

The two tools work together:

  • The cost simulator lets you set a distance and a duration by hand with sliders.
  • The trip calculator fills those values for you from real addresses.

Note: The estimate uses the shortest route suggested by the map. The real cost can vary with the route actually taken, traffic and driving style.

A paid feature

Estimating a trip from addresses is available with a paid subscription, and during the free trial period. The cost simulator with manual sliders stays free for everyone. See the plans.
