Before You Start
Is the vehicle covered in case of an accident?
Co-oto does not offer insurance partnerships. Users must check with their respective insurance companies before sharing a vehicle, as conditions vary by country and context.
Is Co-oto a paid application?
The app offers a free version with 5 trips per month. To unlock all features, owners subscribe to a monthly plan. Borrowers use the application for free. View subscriptions →
How does the free trial period work?
When a second user joins your carsharing circle, you automatically get 30 days of access to all premium features.
On which devices does the application work?
The app is available on iOS (version 16+) and Android (version 8+), as well as on iPad and Android tablets. It is available in French, English, German, Spanish, Dutch, and Italian.

What are the different carsharing modes?
Co-oto offers three modes: Vehicle Lending (an owner lends their car), Logbook (co-owners share costs), and Rental (peer-to-peer rentals). Discover the modes in detail →
Can I find a carsharing partner with Co-oto?
No, Co-oto allows you to manage carsharing between people who already know each other. There is no matching platform.
Does Co-oto work offline?
No, an internet connection is required. Data is synchronized in real-time between all users.
What types of vehicles are supported?
The application supports both gasoline and electric vehicles. Configure your engine type and the app automatically adapts cost calculations. For electric vehicles, charge tracking is available. Learn more →
Cost Sharing
What is the difference between a reservation and a trip?
A reservation blocks a calendar slot. A trip records the kilometers driven and calculates costs. Only the trip is charged, not the reservation.
How do I add a one-time expense?
In the expenses tab, add a one-time expense (repair, inspection, fine) with its amount. It will be automatically split fairly among users. See the guide →
Which currencies are available?
The main European currencies: Euro, Swiss franc, Scandinavian currencies, Eastern European currencies, Turkish lira, and Canadian dollar.
Can I export my data?
Yes, you can export your trips and statistics in Excel format. Learn more about exports →
Users & Accounts
How do I change roles (Owner / Borrower)?
It is not possible to exchange roles within the same contract. You can leave your contract and create a new one with a different role, without recreating your account.
How long is an invitation code valid?
The invitation code expires after 14 days. The owner can generate a new one at any time. Learn more →
How do I invite someone with a QR code?
As an owner, go to Settings > Users and generate a QR code. The borrower simply scans it with their phone camera. See the guide →
What login methods are available?
Sign in with your Google account, your Apple ID (iOS), or via a magic link sent by email. No password needed! Learn more →
Can I participate in multiple carsharing circles?
No, currently a borrower can only participate in one carsharing circle.
Can you have multiple owners for the same vehicle?
Yes, by selecting the Logbook mode when creating the account. Each co-owner records their trips. See the modes →
Account & Privacy
How do I delete my account?
In settings, first leave the contract, then delete the account. All your personal data will be erased. See the full procedure →
How do I cancel my subscription?
Deleting the account does not stop billing. Cancel via App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). You keep access to features until the end of the billing period.
Can I hide my activities from others?
Yes, privacy settings allow you to control the visibility of your statements and activities. Configure →
