Sharing the cost of your vehicle
Managing fixed costs in Co-oto
A central aspect of the Co-oto car-sharing app is the ability to share the costs of owning and maintaining a vehicle. What are they, and how does it work?
What costs can be shared between users?
There are two types of costs in Co-oto:
- Fixed costs: insurance, leasing, parking, etc.
- One-time costs: purchase of tires, freeway tax sticker, etc. (you can add these costs to a “fixed costs” line if you prefer).
Fixed costs configuration
The list of fixed charges can be found in the “Management -> Settings” menu, and must be filled in carefully by the vehicle owner. Borrowers can view these charges, but cannot modify them.
- Liability and comprehensive insurance
- Other insurances
- Vehicle tax
- Vehicle depreciation
- Leasing
- Parking fees
- Lump sum for variable expenses
- Incidental expenses
How are fixed costs distributed?
- In the “occasional” carsharing mode, these fixed costs are added to each trip according to the length of time the vehicle is used and the number of kilometers traveled.
- In the “frequent” car-sharing mode, fixed costs are divided between the two users and accounted for at the end of each month. It is possible to share them pro rata to vehicle use, or to divide them 50/50.
