Payment validation

Who settled what, and when, without having to ask again.

How it works

The money never goes through Co-oto. You settle up the way you always have: bank transfer, cash, a banking app. Co-oto takes nothing and transfers nothing.

What the app does is get everyone to agree on what has been paid. The driver declares their payment, the owner confirms it, and the balance starts fresh.

Without that record the same conversation keeps coming back: "I transferred it last week", "nothing came through". A time-stamped declaration and a confirmation are enough to close it.

Driver side: declaring

From your balance, two declarations are available:

I have paid

The current amount is recorded along with the date. That is the amount the owner will see.

I promise to pay

You announce a date for the payment. Handy when the transfer goes out at the end of the month.

In both cases the owner gets a notification and an email. You can withdraw your declaration: that withdrawal is silent and sends no message.

Owner side: confirm or reject

A banner appears on that driver's balance. Two possible moves:

  • Confirm: you did receive the money. The driver's balance is reset
  • Reject: the declaration is cleared and the balance stays as it was

The part that matters: confirming resets the balance to the date of the declaration, not to today. Trips made after that date are therefore still owed. The summary email likewise covers only the period that was actually settled.

That is the difference with a manual reset, which clears everything up to the present moment. See resetting the balance.

The settlement history

Every reset leaves a record, reachable from the balance through the Settlement history link. The owner sees it driver by driver, and each driver sees their own.

What the record keeps
The amount settled and how it breaks down
The period covered, from the previous settlement to this one
Whether it came from a driver's declaration or from a manual reset

The history only appears in groups where costs are visible. A pending declaration is cleared as soon as a reset takes place.

What Co-oto does not do

  • No payment from inside the app: no card, no direct debit, no wallet
  • No automatic chasing: it is the owner who decides to share a balance with a driver
  • No bank verification: the owner's confirmation is what counts
